2002 Banksia Community Group Achievement Award

Watershed 2000, Central Hopkins Land Protection Association, VIC

Watershed 2000 has become an immensely varied and complex project that is well positioned to lead Landcare to new and extended heights in this new millennium, and is already regarded as a role model for community involvement in sustainable management of natural resources.

Watershed 2000 aims to provide an environment that is a profitable, healthy and desirable place to live by continuously increasing the broad scale development of the environment and community to provide a strong resource base within the region.

It is a program of community participation and sustainable management. The health and wellbeing of the urban and rural community, its businesses, industry and environment interact as a whole unit. With this philosophy, Watershed 2000 has undertaken strategic planning to establish goals, targets and actions for on-ground works.
