The 202020 Vision is a mass collaboration of over 350 organisations all on a mission to create 20% more green space in Australia’s urban areas by 2020. It brings together government, business, universities, school and community organisation to create a greener, healthier, happier Australia. The 202020 Vision was developed in response to long term trends toward urban infill that reduce green space in our urban areas and therefore threaten the market for trees and plants. The 202020 Vision has four key audiences:1. Government – mostly local 2. Businesses – mostly developers 3. Schools 4. Consumers Our approach is to deliver each of these audiences two things: 1. Awareness of the benefits and urgency to start urban greening 2. Tools and know how to make it As such, the campaign employs a mix of communications and media alongside capacity building workshops, ready made tools and networking/group collaboration tools to make urban greening happen. Since 2013, the 202020 Vision has: – Created Australia’s first benchmark of urban green space – Established the world’s biggest network of green space advocates – Run an outreach tour to 500 urban green space experts, resulting in a compendium of 28 projects the market told us need to happen to reach our goal of 20% – Created the world’s first step-by-step guide to urban forestry – Trained 600 people from 80 more councils on the art of urban forestry – Helped five councils put urban forests in place – Created over 1100 positive media stories about the value of green space And more!
