The Banksia Sustainable Cities Award recognises those who are planning, designing, implementing, retrofitting and/or building the necessary infrastructure, technology and/or solutions for their city to adapt, grow and thrive sustainably in a changing environment.

Key Areas of this Award: Design, Energy Efficiency, Resource Recovery, Technology, Transport, Built Environment, Social Impact

Entries are sought from: Government, Business, Community, Organisations, Educational Institutions, Individuals, Regions, Partnerships, Social Enterprises, Not-for-profits.

The winner will;

  • Have measured their environmental and social impacts across the design, build and operational stages of the city’s projects.
  • Be making an effort to engage the users and/or broader community on sustainability.

Your submission needs to address the following 6 criteria:

  1. PROFILE

Compile an introductory profile on your organisation or project/initiate including, your position, approach, and relevance within the broader community or marketplace.

  1. OBJECTIVES

Define the need for this program/initiative/ and outline your objectives and key performance indicators.

  1. METHODOLOGY

Define the methodology, processes and resources used.

  1. OUTCOMES

Describe and measure your key achievements, detailing the impact you’re having and any new partnerships that have emerged. Provide results and where applicable compare against similar projects/initiatives or any industry standards.

  1. INNOVATION

Detail the innovative aspects of this application/concept by illustrating how you have challenged orthodoxies, harnessed trends, understood needs and leveraged resources.

  1. FUTURE PROSPECTS

Where to from here? What are the expectations and strategies for this application/concept going forward?
