BANKSIA NATURAL CAPITAL AWARD

The Banksia Natural Capital Award recognises demonstrated leadership and excellence in valuing, measuring, managing and investing in Australia’s natural capital with the same rigor that we manage all of society’s capital. (Natural Capital refers to all living things and the biological, chemical and physical systems that support them)

Key Areas of this Award: Natural Resource Management, Ecosystems, Water, Soil, Land, Stakeholder Engagement, Conservation, Biodiversity.

Entries are sought from: Government, Business, Community, Organisations, Educational Institutions, Individuals, Regions, Not For Profits, Social Enterprises. 

The 2016 winner will;

  • Not only improve natural capital but will also demonstrate the broader economic, social and environmental returns arising from good natural capital management;
  • Undertake research or stakeholder engagement activities to improve Australia’s understanding of the value of natural capital in underpinning the well-being of society; and
  • Incorporate natural capital valuation (qualitative and/or quantitative) and/or accounting into any decision-making processes.

Your submission needs to address the following 6 criteria:

1.     PROFILE
Compile an introductory profile on your group or project/initiative including your position, approach, and relevance within the community or marketplace.

2.     OBJECTIVES
Define the need for this project/initiative and outline your objectives and key performance indicators.

3.     METHODOLOGY 
Define the methodology, processes and resources used.

4.     OUTCOMES
Describe and measure your key achievements, detailing the impact you’re having and any new partnerships that have emerged.Provide results and where applicable compare against similar projects/initiatives or any industry standards.

5.     INNOVATION
Detail the innovative aspects of this project/initiative by illustrating how you have challenged orthodoxies, harnessed trends, understood needs and leveraged resources.

6.     FUTURE PROSPECTS
Where to from here? What are the expectations and strategies for this project/initiative going forward?
