The Newspapaer Works is the newspaper and magazine publishing not for profit industry body established voluntarily by the industry and acknowledged by Government to achieve environmental responsibility.
Members include: ACP Publishing Pty Ltd part of PBL Media, APN News and Media, Fairfax Media, News Limited, Pacific Magazines, PMP Ltd and West Australian Newspapers.
The Newspapaer Works lead the world in publisher environmental responsibility, with Australians exceeding newspaper and magazine recycling targets in each year of our operation since inception in 1991. Up from 28% in 1991 to 78% for the year ended 2009 confirms this success
Newspapers and magazines are an entirely sustainable resource. No eucalypt or any other native species are used in manufacturing newsprint in Australia.
The Newspapaer Works recognises the important work of education and the need to continue to raise the profile of environmental issues, waste management, recycling and resource recovery. For this reason we are pleased to be supporting the Banksia Education Award, acknowledging excellence and innovation.
