Millicent Mill’s Commitment to a Sustainable Regional Community
Kimberly-Clark Australia and New Zealand, SA
Kimberly-Clark (K-C) is a global health and hygeiene company and proud Australian manufacter. Our largest Australian manufacturing facility is our Millicent Tissue Mill in the SE region of South Australia, home of our KLEENEX®, KLEENEX® COTTONELLE® and VIVA® brands. For 55 years K-C’s Millicent Mill has been a proud contributor to the SE as the region’s largest single employer, a leader in environmental stewardship and an active contributor to the surrounding communities. This has helped foster a deep and abiding relationship of reciprocation and support between the community and our company. We are proud to be celebrating a number of key achievements that we have invested heavily in over the past several years to ensure our manufacturing systems and practices allow us to deliver quality products that our consumers love, while also reducing our impact on the environment. Our ambitious goals have led to significant improvements, particularily in, the mill’s wastewater quality by meeting Australian Drinking Water Guidelines before being discharged into nearby Lake Bonney, taking a proactive approach to transitioning the mill from operating under a 50 year Indenture established by the SA government, imlementing our $33 million cogeneration facility which is significantly reducing our carbon emissions each year, and nearly diverting all manufacturing waste from landfill.
