Our entry categories align with the United Nations SDGs, and our award entry process focuses on educating entrants about these goals.
The Premier’s Sustainability Awards will be judged in two separate streams.
Stream 1 – Industry Leadership (judged by the Banksia Foundation)
Comprising any project undertaken to provide positive outcomes for industry in Victoria. Projects should play a critical role in contributing to the category outcomes for industry, and be delivered by an individuals or an organisation with:
• >$250,000 turnover
• > 10 employees
• >100 volunteers
• >10,000 community members affected by project
• >$50,000/year in donations, grants, etc to run project (including government funding)
Stream 2 – Community Champion (judged by Keep Australia Beautiful (Vic))
Comprising any project undertaken to provide positive outcomes for communities across Victoria. Projects should play a critical role in contributing to the category outcomes for community, and be delivered by an individual or an organisation with:
• < $250,000 turnover
• < 10 employees
• <100 volunteers
• <10,000 community members affected by project
• <$50,000/year in donations, grants, etc (including government funding)
Future Energy Award
The Future Energy award recognises outstanding and innovative initiatives that transition Victoria to net zero emissions and provides clean, affordable, and secure energy.
Thriving Environment Award
The Thriving Environment award recognises outstanding initiatives that protect, restore, and enhance Victorian habitat, flora and/or fauna to ensure ecosystems are secured and flourish for future generations.
Sustainable Places and Destinations Award
The Sustainable Places and Destinations award recognises outstanding achievements that create sustainable and resilient communities, environments, and economies. The category is sponsored by the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC).
Circular Economy Innovation Award
The Circular Economy Innovation award recognises outstanding design, technology and initiatives that help Victoria move from a linear to a circular model.
Healthy and Fair Society Award
The Healthy and Fair Society award recognises outstanding achievements that promote increased awareness and support for physical/mental health, equity, and wellbeing of all Victorians to create a resilient, healthy, and happy community.
Waste and Litter Reduction Award
The Waste and Litter Reduction award recognises outstanding initiatives that minimises what goes into landfills, promotes responsible consumption/production of resources, and takes action to reduce litter.
